The Necessity of Introducing the Institution of Ombudsman
for Children of Serbia
Gathering Ombudsmans from all over Europe and presenting their
experiences, since their establishing until today, is a powerful
stimulus for both professional and general public to focus their
interests on the necessity of establishing Ombudsman for children
in Serbia. Moreover, every such meeting and exchange contributes
to strengthening of the institution and the function bearer within
the institution and also makes possible the reevaluation of the
existing standards in this field and establishing of the new ones
which gain significance if applied internationally.

/ Consultations with Children
and Young People over Introducing the Institution of an Ombudsman
for the Children of Serbia
Children and young people coming from 20 towns in Serbia had an
opportunity to express their opinion on their rights, problems
concerning their protection and suggestions on how to improve
the standards of promotion, implementation and supervision of
these rights. A small number of their opinions and comments are
included in this publication.
"All the children have the same rights that should not
be violated. Please, inform everyone who does not know that. You
are not allowed to violate our rights."

The visit of the traveling exhibition "Welcome to the world
of Astrid Lindgren" offered the framework and the stimulus
for the thematic gathering "A right to a childhood, here
and now" held on 2nd October 2003 at the Children's Cultural
Centre of Belgrade. The intention to make the knowledges and ideas
from the gathering available to all those people who work with
children and young people, resulted in publishing of this collection.

We used various means: music, story, pictures and everyday
objects. We visited The Museum of Post, had visitors, daydreamed,
teased each other, thought, were bored, laughed and had great
fun. And how far we managed to reveal the secret of making a book
will be clear when you read it.

It is the collection of songs from the Festival of Children's

and children and to encourage their further creative work.
